Your home is your care provider’s workplace.
Your home is an important part of who you are. But some things at home — like an icy front step, pets, or hallway clutter — are workplace safety hazards for your home care provider and can make them feel unsafe or at risk of being hurt. Their safety matters on the job. If you or a family member are aware of potential risks or hazards at home, share your concerns.
Did you know? The Home Lift Program loans mechanical lift systems so that Nova Scotians can stay in their own home and home care workers can safely deliver care.
Through the program, Nova Scotians can access a mechanical lift system if it’s required for their care needs and helps them to remain in their own home. Mechanical lift systems allow home care workers to safely deliver care by properly lifting, transferring and positioning an individual who is unable to do so independently.
If a care provider gets injured, everyone gets hurt.
If your care provider gets injured on the job, they may not be there to provide the care you need. Working together, we can keep care providers safe, healthy, and caring for Nova Scotians.
Building a community of care.
Everyday, care providers travel across the province, bringing their diverse backgrounds and experience to those in need. Our homes, neighbourhoods and communities are their workplaces. Like any worker on the job, their safety matters. So, let’s welcome and support them.
